Snowy 2.0

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme’s history. It is a nation-building renewable energy project that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia.

ROLE

Roads and Traffic Advisor to Snowy Hydro (Client) from Preliminary Design through to Construction. Key activities included:

• EIS development and delivery;
• Stakeholder engagements including TfNSW, Federal Environmental Agencies and Contractor;
• Design Manager of early works roads – 25km;
• Design reviews and verifications of Main Works roads (70km) being designed by external consultancy;
• Value Engineering Lead for Snowy Hydro;

• Finally engaged by WeBuild to undertake detail design of all main works roads (approx 70km) to enable construction.

ADDED VALUE

Through the Value Engineering exercise we worked independently of the external consultancy responsible for the detail design of all project roads. Detailed quantity determinations were undertaken from live 3d models, and design options developed, which allowed us to identified and demonstrate to the client and approximate capital cost savings of $104M or 44% of Direct Capital Cost of roads.

Through this exercise we replaced the original consultancy to design and deliver all 70km of project roads on time and under budget.
